New, New....... Business and Biodiversity Poster - FREE! Telephone or email us.

The Environmental Project Consulting Group and British Trust for Conservation Volunteers have teamed up to produce an ecology friendly poster aimed at businesses.

Petersfield based company The Environmental Project Consulting Group and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) have pooled their resources to launch a poster campaign aimed at showing local businesses how they can save money, benefit their employees and enhance the community by adopting environmentally friendly policies.

The poster, designed by Colleen Mainstone of BTCV and sponsored by EPCG, shows how businesses can create a ‘Win Win’ situation by using ecology friendly ideas whilst improving various aspects of their business.

Mary Allen, a Partner in the Environmental Project Consulting Group, says, ‘ By encouraging better landscaping around office space and getting employees involved in helping to develop their environment, businesses can make a real difference. It can improve public relations, staff morale, communications between departments and team building. The poster urges businesses to re think the space outside their office and businesses with no land themselves can partner local community projects.’

The Environmental Project Consulting Group has carried out many projects across the south of England and is a specialist in wetland systems. The company works both for developers and organisations like English Nature and the Wildlife Trusts. Mary Allen was instrumental in setting up and chairing the Environment Committee for the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, which evolved into the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Business Environment Forum supported by the Government Office for the South East, Hampshire County Council and the Environment Agency.

BTCV is the UK’s largest charity focused on helping people to learn about, protect and take practical measures to enhance their local environment. In Hampshire alone there are eight Community Education and Training Officers who work towards these aims by setting up and supporting schools and local community conservation groups.

Mary Allen adds, “ Local businesses may feel that the protection of the environment is more the remit of the Government rather than anything they need to be involved in. This is not the case and those companies who become involved in ecology friendly projects most definitely do reap the benefits. We find that those projects, which have the ownership of local people and employees are more likely to succeed and survive in the longer term.”
